A man violently killed in his Manurewa sleep-out last week has today been identified by police.
He was 55-year-old Richard John Lees, who leaves behind a wife and daughter.
Lees' body was discovered with significant head injuries by his flatmate on Friday morning in his converted garage behind a property on Great South Road.
A scene examination of the property will continue today.
Police said yesterday there was "nothing that warrants this innocent member of the community having to suffer such a violent death".
"This victim was living a normal, routine, quiet life," a police spokesperson said.
Police want to hear from anyone who can provide information about the man's death.
