Police have released the name of a man killed in a crash on Auckland's northwestern motorway last night.
He was 22-year-old Kawati Ross Timoti from Northcote.
The accident happened at the Patiki Road interchange around 9pm last night when police say a car hit a high voltage power box.
Timoti, the single occupant of the vehicle, died after being trapped in the car.
The crash cut lighting along the east bound causeway and the motorway was closed for 7 hours while emergency services cleared the crash site.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the white four door Nissan Skyline leading up to the crash.
They also want to find the driver of a red vehicle with a damaged front bumper seen near the crash site at the time of the crash.
Anyone with information should call the Waitemata Serious Crash Unit on 481 0300, or ring Crime Stoppers 0800 555 111.
