A 60-year-old man will appear in court today after a south Auckland woman was shot in the head.
Police went to an address in Druces Road, Manukau, early Saturday morning after reports that a 60-year-old female had been assaulted.
The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital where a CT scan revealed that there was a bullet lodged in her head.
Police arrested and charged the man at the house where a firearm was also found.
The woman is in a serious but stable condition in intensive care after having surgery to remove the bullet from her head.
Police say no one else is being sought in relation to the incident. They have not ruled out further serious charges being laid.
The man will appear in the Counties Manukau District Court today.
