A 22-year-old man has been flown to Rotorua Hospital after being found with a gunshot wound to his right leg.
The man was left in the carpark of the Taupo Hospital at 3.20pm.
He was stabilised in Taupo before making the trip to Rotorua in the YouthTown rescue helicopter.
The helicopter crew were called out later in the afternoon after a vehicle rolled down a bank in Te Kuiti.
The elderly driver was removed from the vehicle but later died due to unknown causes at the scene.
