An Australian has been found dead in a pool of his own vomit at a central Auckland backpackers.
Police were called to the Fort Street hostel Sunday morning after cleaning staff found him.
Witnesses say the 33-year-old had been drinking heavily all weekend and a bottle of whisky had been confiscated from him the previous day.
