Man dies at Fonterra workplace

A man has been crushed to death while working in an elevator shaft at the Fonterra plant in Southland.

Ambulance officers say they were called to the plant in Edendale at around 11am Friday.

Department of Labour inspectors are investigating.

In a statement, the Labour Department says the worker suffered fatal injuries when working on the top of a lift.
