Man arrested over fatal Orakei crash

Police have arrested a driver of a car that crashed in an Auckland suburb, fatally injuring the front-seat passenger.

David Sionepulu, 19, from Panmure, died after the car crashed into a hedge on Ngapipi Road in Orakei shortly after 2am on Thursday morning.

Witnesses spotted the driver running from the scene.

Last night, police reported that they have arrested a 19-year-old Glenn Innes man in relation to the accident.

He is set to appear at the Auckland District Court today.
