A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman at an Invercargill hostel.
The 38-year-old woman was found dead in her room at the accomodation hostel on Tyne Street at 10am yesterday.
The man has been charged with her murder and will appear at Invercargill District Court tomorrow.
Police have also found "items of interest" in the Otepuni gardens reserve which is next to the hostel.
A post mortem examination will be carried out on the victim tomorrow. Police have not yet released her name.
Twenty two police from the Southland area supported by two ESR staff and a forensic pathologist are working on the investigation.
A scene examination is continuing and is expected to take a number of days to complete.
