Man arrested after young woman shot

A man has been charged with shooting a young woman with a sawn off air rifle.

Police said that the 19-year-old victim was shot near Rukumoana Ave, Morrinsville about 5.30pm on Thursday.

She was treated at Waikato Hospital and released later the same night.

A 25-year-old Morrinsville male has been arrested and charged with the shooting and would appear in Hamilton District Court on Monday.
