Luckiest shops named as Lotto jackpots to $34m

Published: 3:46PM Wednesday April 06, 2011 Source: ONE News

One lucky punter could win $34 million in this Saturday's Lotto Powerball draw.

Sales for the 'must be won' Powerball draw - the first in nearly three years - have pushed the prize up by $2 million this week.

If the Powerball prize is not won, the Powerball First Division prize pool is added to that of the next highest division where there are winners.

The money is then shared between the lucky ticket holders.

The previous time this happened, in October 2008, five Second Division Powerball winners won $6.1 million each.

Meanwhile, NZ Lotteries has crunched the numbers to find New Zealand's luckiest selling Powerball stores and they are both in Auckland.

Countdown Lynfield and Manukau City Lotto share the record of selling three Powerball First Division winning tickets.

ONE News is looking for a group of people who will be watching the $32 million Lotto draw on Saturday night and would be happy for one of our reporters and a cameraman to join them. Email news@tvnz.co.nz
