Christmas is a time for families to get together and at the Auckland Airport on Tuesday, the Davis family had a get-together to rival them all.

They were back in the country with three new sons, adopted from an orphanage in Lithuania.

Kate and Richard Davis adopted the children after trying for years to have their own. Adoption, they say, has finally given them the family they have always wanted.

Richard Davis' say had the children not been adopted, they would have continued staying in the orphanage until they were 18 years of age. The adoption, he says, gives the boys a chance to actually live a more fulfilled life with a family in New Zealand.

Kate Davis is not completely new to the whole adoption thing. Her sister Shelly also suffered the same fertility difficulties and also adopted children - from Russia though.

Five-year-old Michael and four-year-old Bethany have been New Zealanders for four years and were also present with their family to meet their new cousins at the airport.

It was a fitting present for a couple who thought they would never have children and now have three bundles of joy to celebrate Christmas with.
