The death of a New Zealand man crushed after climbing into a wheelie bin following a night's drinking in the English city of Brighton has been ruled an accident.
Scott Williams, 35, a former maths teacher at Auckland's Pakuranga College, who had been living in London, disappeared in Brighton in July 2009,
His body was discovered two days later at a waste transfer site.
His death has prompted a revision of healthy and safety guidelines for commercial wheelie bins including making locks compulsory, the BBC reports.
An inquest was told Williams and flatmate Robert Pinniger had separated, after Pinniger was thrown out of a pub.
Pinniger had expected Williams to follow him to his mother's house later where the pair had arranged to stay, but he did not arrive.
The court was told it had rained heavily and Williams may have climbed into a bin for shelter.
