Peter Gordon is the executive chef at Dine in New Zealand but he also owns a hugely popular eatery in London.
Breakfast's Paul Henry caught up with the chef in London for a chat about food and politics.
Gordon has owned and run Providores in London for nine years and says although the effects of the global recession are evident, their profits were "bizarrely" up from the previous year.
He says to compete with the many restaurants in London, they have developed a following for what they do well. His restaurant's food has a whimsical and playful feel to it and he believes that is what people are attracted to.
Also he says the constantly changing range of New Zealand wine is appealing to customers.
When it comes to the UK election, Gordon already cast his vote via post last week, however, he declined to say which way he went as it might "scare off some customers".
Gordon says he cannot understand why people would want to be a politician in the current climate as they are inheriting power at a time when the world is still in chaos.
