A parole bid by Karla Cardno killer Paul Dally has been adjourned to allow him to be represented by a lawyer.

Dally was convicted of murdering the Lower Hutt schoolgirl in 1990 and jailed for life.

He kidnapped Karla in Lower Hutt on May 26, 1989, took her to his home and raped and tortured her.

He then drove her to the Pencarrow coast, near Eastbourne, bludgeoned her with a piece of driftwood and buried her, still alive, in the sand.

His latest parole bid was due to have been heard today but has been postponed until next February so that he could consult a lawyer, the Parole Board said.
