Graeme Burton has been found guilty of attempted murder.

Burton has been on trial in the High Court in Auckland after stabbing fellow Auckland Prison inmate Dwayne Marsh in the heart with a sharpened rod.

His lawyer argued his client just wanted to hurt Marsh, not kill him.

Burton is currently serving at least 26 years jail for the murder of Karl Kuchenbecker while on parole for an earlier killing.
