Fly infestations are causing major problems in Auckland, with one fast food restaurant having to close.
McDonald's Greenlane has closed twice already this year to allow for spraying, following complaints by customers about clumps of flies on the ceilings, chairs and tables.
Auckland Council's inspected the building twice and is satisfied it's safe to continue serving food.
The building will close again on February 12 so parts of the ceiling could be replaced.
Customers at the restaurant claimed there were hundreds of flies over the ceiling, on cups and one said his wife actually swallowed a fly.
Experts say higher temperatures and moist condition mean flies develop faster and produce more generations.
Flies are attracted to left over food scraps in households and also to humans' sweaty hands, which produce an acid they require.
