Firefighters took an hour to bring a huge blaze in an industrial area in the northern outskirts of Hamilton under control.
Sixty firefighters battled the blaze at a boatbuilders' yard and 14 fire appliances were in attendance, including fire trucks from Ngaruawahia, Cambridge and Te Awamutu.
The Fire Service says a 60 square metre building at Tristram Marine in Te Rapa was well-involved in fire but there was no threat to nearby buildings.
Waikato fire manager Roy Breeze says firefighters are dampening down hot spots and they can't safely determine the cause just yet.
He says while there was considerable damage, fire walls enabled some boats to be salvaged.
