Hundreds of 17-year-old Aucklanders are believed to have paid for forged drivers' licences so they can get into pubs.
It follows the arrest of a 17-year-old student on forgery charges.
Police who seized Marcus Lim's computer say it contains hundreds of names of people thought to have paid $100 each for a forged licence.
Detective Sergeant James Watson is urging them to come forward and says some have already been tracked down.
Those who cooperated and whose only intention was to use the forgery to get into a pub have got off with a formal caution.
Those who are uncooperative, or may have had a more sinister motive, are being investigated and may be prosecuted.
"We are encouraging them to come to their local Police station or to contact the investigation team in order to hand the document over," saysWatson.
After discovering five North Shore students who were using the plausible forged licences that put their ages at 18 or over, Police initiated an investigation which saw Lim arrested and charged with forgery.
The students involved are almost exclusively 17-year-old students from up to 15 schools in the Auckland region.
Lim has been remanded on bail and is due to reappear in the North Shore District Court on November 30.
