A dispute between artist Ralph Hotere over the sale of 60 of his works of art allegedly given to a friend more than 40 years ago has been settled out of court.
Hotere brought begun legal proceedings against Annette Asher, owner of Art and Object in Auckland after the gallery planned an auction of the collection in September last year.
The auction was cancelled.
The Dominion Post has reported that the settlement was brokered in private between the parties and Justice Ron Young in the High Court in Wellington this week.
But it is not known if the outcome would lead to any of the works, which included screenprints, paintings and drawings, being sold.
Lawyers involved in the case are either not available or have refused to comment.
