There is good news for the commercial fishing industry with signs Hoki stocks are improving.
Minister of Fisheries Phil Heatley has just released research findings which show Hoki stocks in the western fishing area have recovered and the fishery is now with sustainable target levels.
The area had been subject to major catch reductions to protect the resource.
Heatley says it shows the strategy is working well and is beginning to show dividends.
