HIV positive man to face further charges

Name suppression has continued for the man alleged to have intentionally infected people with HIV.

The 40-year-old has appeared in the Auckland District Court on Tuesday morning on eight new charges.

They include four of wounding with reckless disregard, one of infecting with a disease, one of attempting to infect with disease,  and two of attempted wounding with reckless disregard.

Police say the charges relate to six complainants, four of whom are HIV positive.

They believe the man used internet and telephone dating services to solicit partners around the country and overseas.

He has been remanded in custody reappear in court on Friday.
