Phil Heatley is visiting other government representatives from around the Pacific to discuss fish stocks.

The Fisheries Minister is holding meetings in Papua New Guinea next week followed by Australia.

Heatley says management of the southern Pacific's valuable fish stocks is on the agenda, especially the migratory tuna species. Heatley says tuna stocks are the most valuable natural resource many Pacific Island nations have.

He says fisheries law enforcement and military patrolling and surveillance in the region will also be discussed.
