Police are looking for a man who disappeared from view in Auckland's Waitemata Harbour overnight after being seen running on the harbour bridge.
Police say they received numerous calls just before 1am reporting a male running on the North Bound Carriageways of the bridge.
A search was conducted and after a short time the police helicopter located the person in the water, but he disappeared from view.
The police launch has since been unable to find the man.
Members of the public gave police two different descriptions of him.
One was of a young European male in his late teens, of slight in build, with dark hair of average length and wearing light pants and shirt.
The second description was of a man aged 25 to 30, wearing a blue dress shirt and pants.
Police are asking members of the public to call them with any information they may have about the missing man.
