Gyrocopter crashes into Tauranga Harbour

Two men have been rescued after a gyrocopter crashed into Tauranga Harbour this afternoon.

The Fire Service said the crash happened between Mt Maunganui and Matakana Island.

The two men who were onboard the aircraft were pulled to safety by boaties.

One has been transferred to hospital. It is not known what condition he is in.
