The mother of an Indian man beaten to death in Auckland last year has arrived in New Zealand to seek answers over her son's death.

Karamjit Dhaliwal is staying with members of Auckland's Sikh community who raised money to pay for her flight.

She gave her son Charanpreet her life savings so he could move here and study, but 18 months after he arrived, he was brutally murdered.

Story continues below...

The 22-year-old was beaten to death last November on his first shift as a security guard patrolling a west Auckland construction site.

His mother wants answers, starting with why her son was alone the night he died.

She also says she is angry Charanpreet's boss at CNE Security has not contacted her.

"It was his obligation," she told ONE News through a translator.

"He was 22-years-old. The young boy was killed so he [the boss] should pay his condolences to the family."

The company owner would not to speak to ONE News referring questions to his lawyer.

Karamjit has received an outpouring of support from Auckland's Sikh community, with $15,000 raised to bring her to New Zealand and send her son's body home last year.

Karamjit plans to visit the site where Charanpreet died, as she tries to come to terms with her loss.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

The accused and the deceased did not know each other.
