A woman who spent months organising a fundraising day for a little girl she had not even met, is this week's ONE News Good Sort.
Masterton mother of three Kate Jurlina raised $10,000 in one day for Sophie King.
Ella, Lucy and Max are Jurlina's "three fulltime jobs" but the mum does a lot more, including ringing a man she didn't even know to offer her help.
Jurlina told Tony King she would raise money for his daughter who at two years old seems cruelly young for a brain tumour. She has endured 11 operations and endless chemotherapy, an experience which may continue for the next 18 years.
Jurlina has followed through on her promise to help with a charity sausage sizzle, celebrity netball match and charity auction.
"You always hope your ideas come off and that it all works out and it's nice to see everyone here and supporting it, it's fantastic," says Jurlina.
And it's Jurlina who is saying thanks to Sophie's dad.
"A lot of us have children so I can't imagine what it would be like, so thank you," says Jurlina.
But it's King who feels indebted to the good samaritan.
"I don't think we could ever say thank you enough to her to be quite honest."
Jurlina knows a little bit about children, kids and cancer because her brother Sam has twice survived a brain tumour.
"I thought it was pretty good considering what happened to me," says Sam Belcher.
