It has been three months since a Rotorua service station owner fled the country with nearly $4 million of Westpac Bank's money.

The heist made headlines around the world but left victim's in Rotorua.

That is where good sort Jeffrey Morgan came in a rather random act of kindness.

Morgan is proud of his job pumping gas at Shell on Fairy Road in Rotorua, even wiping customer's windows for them.

"Sometimes they ask, sometimes they don't but I still do it," he says.

Part of his appreciation of a pay cheque is because he has been made redundant three times.

"It's a job and you want to be grateful you have a job," Morgan says.

Across town, Anthony Shybu also knows about the value of a job. He used to have one pumping petrol as well, till he got a phone call one night saying don't come in tomorrow.

"That time I was just shocked because I lost my job without any notice," Shybu says.

Shybu's boss ran off with nearly $4 million of the banks money leaving him without a petrol station to run.

"Yeah just like a movie, someone got millions and they run away with all the money. Unbelievable," he says.

While Shybu's boss was running around the world with his millions he was also in the headlines for having no job.

"When I saw this in the paper about Anthony, I thought well I've worked my life I've had a heart attack, heart bypass, time for me to either hang up my boots and let somebody else have a go," says Morgan.

So he told his boss he was giving his job to Shybu.

Morgan gave his job to a man he has never met.

Shybu initially worried about how he would feed his family but now he has a new job and a new friend.

Tim is my father and i'd just like to say that i'm proud of what he does bringing happiness to others lives and yet still finds time to talk and see his grandchildren. For a man who's had it rough the last 2-3 years it hasn't slowed him down and he still has time for everyone. Good on you dad/Pop!

The piece about Mark Granthams brought tears to my eyes. What an inspirational young man. Has made me look at myself and realise what little I do for the wider community. Thanks Mark :)
