Garth Bray
Garth Bray is the ONE News Europe correspondent based in London.
He was previously a ONE News reporter based in Auckland, a job
he held from 2008-2011.
Bray had made the move back to NZ in 2008 after spending two years
as the Australia correspondent covering everything from sport and
politics through to celebrity happenings.
He was previously part of the Sunday team - that saw him nominated for a Qantas television award - after five years as a ONE News reporter and columnist.
A self-confessed politics tragic, Garth has enthusiastically
sought answers from those seeking to run our lives in six election
and by-election campaigns and two leadership battles.
One was the 2004 US presidential race. He has also reported on
world affairs from capitals in the Pacific, Asia, Europe, the
Middle East, and Africa, and Sydney.
Garth is a townie born and raised in the Far North, where you're
never far from the soil, surf and sun, or from Kiwis of every
persuasion. He likes to think a little of them all rubbed off and
him and his work.
Garth's first break into broadcasting came there as DJ on Radio
Hiku o te Ika; his second as an idealistic newsman at irreverent
Auckland radio station, 95bFM, where you can still hear him from
time to time.
Since then he's written for the New Zealand Herald, New Zealand
Listener, and National Business Review.
When not in front of the camera, Garth enjoys lifting the lens as a
keen but amateur photographer. He loves history and all music -
good, bad, live, Kiwi - and has also accepted that his years as the
lead singer in a noisy ensemble called The Clinic are best put
behind him.
