Two more Kiwi victims of last week's deadly Pacific tsunami were farewelled in a moving ceremony in Matamata on Saturday morning.

Twenty four year-old Rebecca Martin and 22-year-old Petria Martin were on holiday at Lalomanu Beach when the tsunami struck.

Hundreds of mourners packed into the local school hall to remember the pair.

Matamata Piako Mayor Hugh Vercoe says the loss of the two sisters is terribly sad and their deaths have devastated the community.

The funeral comes after a day of mourning in Samoa on Friday. A memorial service was held in Apia's national stadium to remember the more than 150 people that died in in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga. A mass burial followed the service.

Eight New Zealanders lost their lives in Samoa.
