Bus passengers in Wellington have been left frustrated by what they claim is a lack of warning over Monday's industrial action by drivers.

Workers have walked off the job as they attend a Tramways Union meeting.

That has forced most buses off the road since 9:30, and full services will not resume until 2pm Monday.

Some passengers spoken say they were not told of the strike, while media were not alerted and were unable to alert passengers that dozens of bus services would be canceled until after it had started.

But a Go Wellington spokeswoman, says notices about the stopwork meeting have been in buses for more than a week.

Some services, such as the Airport and Hutt Valley Flyers are continuing to operate.
