Free after hours ACC visits for under sixes

Free after hours GP visits for under sixes are being extended to children who have been injured in accidents as well as those are sick.

The move is aimed at reducing the number of injured children turning up at hospital emergency clinics.

ACC Minister Judith Collins says it is important parents aren't put off taking their young children to the doctor because of cost.

The Government expects to have the new arrangement, which could cost upto $2 million, in place by mid December.
