The Football World Cup qualifier is putting pressure on accommodation in the Capital this weekend.

Saturday's All Whites World Cup qualifier against Bahrain is attracting out-of-towners to the capital in their droves.

Heather Idowine-Reilly from the Holiday Inn says they are fully booked and are still fielding dozens of calls from those desperate for a room.

She says many are choosing to go on a waiting list.

She says the hotel had been 80% full anyway because of its proximity to the railway station for Toast Martinborough, the region's wine festival.

For those who have missed out on tickets to the big game, the Wellington City Council will broadcast it on a big screen at Queen's wharf.
