Fonterra is recalling two 500g salted butter products, after two "isolated" reports of fine metal objects being found in butter.
There have been no reports of anyone being injured says Peter McClure, Fonterra Brands Managing Director, and the voluntary recall is a precautionary measure.
"We advise anyone with family or friends who may have bought this product to contact them in case they do not see or hear this announcement."
The two products affected are Mainland Salted Butter 500g, with a best before date of 10 January 2013, and Anchor Salted Butter 500gm, with a best before date of 26 January 2013.
These products should not be consumed, and should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
