There has been an emotional send off for the Air Force veteran killed by an artillery shell last week.
Flight Sergeant Andrew Forster was remembered by hundreds of mourners as a military hero as well as a loving husband and father.
He died in a training accident at the Waiouru Army Base when an
old artillery shell exploded as he went to mark it for future
disposal.
A colleague standing next to him survived, suffering only minor
scratches. He did not attend the funeral as he was still struggling
to come to terms with the incident.
Over 300 servicemen and woman, family and friends gathered on Tuesday to pay their respects.
Forster served for 27 years, recently returning from a tour of Afghanistan and is survived by his wife and three children.
His daughter Candice spoke at the service, saying she felt lucky and proud to call Forster her dad. "He is the best and most wonderful father you could ever ask for."
Forster's wife of 19 years Karyn said he was her best friend and soul mate.

Prime Minister John Key also attended Tuesday's funeral service.
