Five injured motocross riders flown to hospital

Five motocross riders have been injured in an event near Taupo this afternoon.

All riders were participating in the Suzuki Trail Blazer trail ride in the Tahorakuri Forest.

In seperate incidents, the riders received injuries to their arms, legs and spines.

Rescue helicopters from Rotorua and Taupo flew to the forest, reaching the riders around 1pm.

Paramedics treated the riders at the scene before flying them to Rotorua Hospital for further treatment.
