The owner of the old Southdown Freezing Works in Auckland believes the latest fire at the factory was started by an arsonist.
Fire crews have been at the scene of the massive blaze since around 8pm Friday night. The fire is not quite out, but demolition work has started to clear the rubble.
Waitemata area commander Denis O'Donoghue says this time crews will be aggressive with the demolition work, and make sure the rubble is cleared as quickly as possible.
At its height, the fire at the old Southdown Freezing Works in Penrose covered an area the size of three football fields.
Developer John Sax says an accelerant was apparently used.
He says the complex was fenced and under constant security so someone would've had to go to some effort to get in.
