A fire at an abandoned Wairarapa school on Friday night is now under control, central fire communications says.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at Lansdowne School in Masterton about 9.15pm and had it under control by 10.45pm, shift manager Tim Rees says.
Three appliances were sent to the blaze that started in a 15m x 20m swimming pool building.
Rees says it is too early to say if the fire is suspicious and fire safety officers will examine the scene on Saturday.
Lansdowne School closed in 2003 after a government review.
