Female pedestrian killed in Auckland

A woman has been killed after being hit by a car near the intersection of Great North Road and West Coast Road in Glen Eden, west Auckland.

The woman's age is unknown.

Police said emergency services were on the scene after the accident, which happened shortly after 8pm.

Traffic diversions have been put in place at the intersection of Great North Road and West Coast Road and the intersection of Great North Road and Titirangi Road.

Police warned motorists to avoid the area because of significant delays.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
