Fatal crash in Taranaki

One person has been killed after a collision between a car and a truck in Taranaki.

The crash happened at 4.20pm on State Highway Three outside the Hawera Aerodrome.

One other person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

The police serious crash team as well as fire and ambulance services were sent to the scene.

The road between Hawera and Normanby was closed while the crash site was examined.

Police said the cause of the crash is not yet known.
