Fast food chain's raunchy ad banned from TV

A new player in the fast food market, Carl's Jr, is considering its options after its Memphis BBQ Burger commercial was banned from New Zealand television.

The raunchy commercial featuring a blonde and a brunette facing off over a BBQ pit, has been declined by both the Commercial Approvals Bureau and the Advertising Standards Authority.

Operator of the franchise, Restaurant Brand's chief executive Russel Creedy, says they appealed on the grounds that the advertisement would only be played  after 8:30pm.

He says many adult only programmes feature far more explicit content than their commercial.
