MetService is warning farmers of more significant snowfall.

A severe weather warning has been issued for Marlborough - and Canterbury north of the Rakaia.

Heavy snow is expected to low levels from early Friday morning, and farmers are advised to consider moving stock to lower levels or to sheltered areas.

Snowfalls of 20 to 30 centimetres are expected to an altitude of about 400 metres on Friday, with lighter falls to two-or-300 metres.

The North Island won't escape, with snow due in higher parts of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa from Friday night
