Wind and rain failed to deter Wellington fans from joining in the All Blacks' Rugby World Cup celebrations.

A large, buoyant and excited crowd of around 100,000 people lined the capital's streets.

It may be the third day of their victory parade, but there were no signs of the All Blacks' or the New Zealand public's enthusiasm abating.

The biggest cheer was reserved for Piri Weepu who appeared to be lapping up his return home.

The parade began in Civic Square just after midday and finished at Parliament where the All Blacks performed a haka.

National leader John Key and Labour leader Phil Goff met the team at Parliament, before captain Richie McCaw spoke.

Organisers decided to do away with tickertape because of the rain.

Roads around the city centre were closed until mid-afternoon.

Thousands of people lined the streets of central Christchurch and poured into Hagley Park for the All Blacks' parade yesterday.

There were huge screams and cheers from the blacked out crowd as the team took the stage and thanked fans.

McCaw said it was great to be able to bring the Webb Ellis Cup to Christchurch after a tough year for the city.

Meanwhile, in Auckland organisers estimated 250,000 thousand fans lined the streets to celebrate the team's nail-biting win against France in the Rugby World Cup final.

McCaw dedicated the win to all New Zealanders at the parade in Auckland on Monday, while coach Graham Henry was uncharacteristically emotional and said he blown away by the support.

Campaign for Dunedin parade

Thousands of All Blacks fans are calling for a Rugby World Cup victory parade in Dunedin.

New Zealand Rugby Union spokesman Nick Brown confirmed to the Otago Daily Times that there were no plans for a parade in Dunedin because the team was disbanding tonight.

But that has not stopped supporters from setting up the Facebook page, We want a victory parade for the All Blacks in Dunedin, which this morning has 4,239 members.

Tracey Cameron uploaded a picture of her son holding a sign saying: "Where are my heroes? We want the ABs."

"After today's parade in Christchurch, come on NZRFU, give Dunedin their moment with the cup and the ABs!" Stewart Kaa said on the page.
