Greenpeace is trying a new tactic in its climate awareness campaign, seeking to reduce emissions by 40% by the year 2020.

It has enlisted actors Lucy Lawless and Keisha Castle Hughes to help publicise its cause in central Auckland City on Monday afternoon.

The government says cutting emissions by 40% is unrealistic, and are proposing they be cut by 10-20% by 2020.

The Sign-On campaign is targeting Prime Minister John Key and the government to change that stance and to adapt the 40% reduction goal.
