One of the world's most endangered birds, the kakapo, could number more than 100 by the end of this year.
This will be a milestone which hasn't been reached for more than 20 years.
The Department of Conservation (DOC) has released footage of Lisa, one of only 90 kakapo in the world, laying a clutch of three eggs on Whenua Hou, near Stewart Island.
One of the eggs has been confirmed as fertile.
DOC is expecting a bumper breeding season - and hopes for as many as 40 new chicks this year.
