The sentencing for the Christchurch man found guilty of assaulting his son has been delayed.

Jimmy Mason, 50, was found guilty by a jury last month of punching his son's face and flicking his ear in December 2007.

Mason claimed his actions were reasonable in the circumstances as he feared for their safety.

Wednesday's sentencing has now been delayed until the 29th of June.
