The 54-year-old woman caught laden with drugs at Wellington airport has appeared in the Wellington District court again today.
Susan Horribin was refused bail and has been remanded in custody.
Horrobin was carrying almost 400 grams of methamphetamine, which had a street value of $400,000, when she was arrested around 2.30pm on Tuesday.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee, from the Wellington covert operations group, said Horribin, who arrived from Auckland, also had 100 ecstasy tablets and 45 tabs of LSD, valued at about $10,000.
She faced charges including possession of methamphetamine for supply, possession of LSD for supply and possession of ecstasy for supply.
McKee said yesterday the seizure would have a big impact on the drug scene in Wellington.
"This is the biggest internal seizure of methamphetamine. 14 ounces is a significant amount and it will certainly impact on the supply on the streets here in Wellington," he said.
Police say they had been watching Horrobin for some time.
"It sends a clear message to the community that we are actively policing the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine, and we will continue to come down hard on those criminals that manufacture and distribute these drugs."
