Red Cross
The Red Cross has launched an appeal.

Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
Prime Minister John Key has launched the Christchurch Earthquake
Appeal. The global fundraiser is for the recovery effort in the
city and greater Canterbury region.
Key said the appeal will complement others such as the Red Cross
and Salvation Army charity drives. Telecom, Vodafone and 2 Degrees
mobile customers can text chch to 933 to make an automatic $3
donation.
Donations can also be made via internet banking, or at any branch
of New Zealand's retail banks, by depositing into account number
03-0251-0039807-00.
Mayoral Fund
A Mayoral Fund has been set up for donations to residents
of Christchurch. Use the following BNZ bank account:

Westpac appeal
The Westpac Canterbury Care Fund now has $1 million
available to provide practical assistance for those in need,
working with the Salvation Army.
Donations can be made online to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
account number 03-0207-0617331-00, and through branches nationwide
to the Salvation Army.
ANZ/National
appeal
Donations can be made at ANZ branches or online to account number
01-1839-0188939-00.
They can also be made at National Bank branches or online to
account number 06-0869-0548507-00.
ASB appeal
ASB has also opened an account to receive donations:

Donations can be made at ASB branches nationwide, or via online
banking. Across the Tasman parent company, the Commonwealth Bank of
Australia, is also accepting donations for the Red Cross.

Tax credit
Earthquake cash donations by individuals over $5 through
approved organisations can gain a tax credit. Revenue minister
Peter Dunne said donations were also tax deductible when made by
companies.
The Australian government has also ensured Australian taxpayers are
able to claim an income tax deduction for donations to the relief
effort.

Earthquake Appeal.

University Student Associations
Appeals are being launched by students' associations at
universities and polytechnics nationwide during their orientation
weeks. These appeals will gather money and goods to assist
charities helping with the aftermath of the Christchurch
earthquake.
Anyone at Auckland University wanting to make a donation should contact the association on 09 309 0789, or make a donation in person around the Student Union Building on the University of Auckland campus.
Pike appeal
Pike River Disaster Relief Trust chairman and Greymouth mayor Tony Kokshoorn announced the trust would no longer accept donations for the November mining disaster, which claimed 29 lives, and instead urged people to donate to the Christchurch earthquake appeals.
