Delays on SH1 after truck hits cows

A truck has struck a herd of cows near Waimate, between Timaru and Oamaru.

The accident occurred on State Highway One just after 6am.

It is understood up to four cows may be dead and a number are injured.

The driver is uninjured but shaken.

Police warn there may be delays in the area until it is cleared.
