Dame Malvina Major has been awarded with New Zealand's highest honour at a ceremony today.
World renowned opera singer Dame Malvina has been invested with the Order of New Zealand, at Government House in Auckland this morning.
Governor General Sir Jerry Mateparae hosted the ceremony.
Fashion Week organiser Dame Pieter Stewart was also invested as a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit at the ceremony.
The diverse achievements of forty people have been celebrated at investiture ceremonies this week, including Dame June Mariu, who was invested as a Dames Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
Assistant All Black coach Wayne Smith has also been recognised as a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
