Cracks are showing in the solidarity of Auckland bus drivers, in a dispute over pay with New Zealand Bus.

One of the three unions which had combined in the battle with New Zealand Bus has decided to break away.

Members of the National Distribution Union, representing 32 of the 900 drivers, have voted to approach the company to sign up to an offer put on the table last week.

Union spokesman Karl Anderson says while the final pay offer does not resolve the issue of low pay, the combined union negotiators believed it was the best possible offer.

But he is angry the largest of the unions, Tramways, broke ranks and urged drivers to reject the agreement.

Anderson says he's aware drivers in other unions are also thinking about accepting the pay offer.
